Heading towards mid winter here in the Southern Hemisphere. The days are grey and chilly. The dark comes quickly in the early evening. Thoughts go to comfort and hibernation. The weight of the world can seem closer than usual. Time to unpack the Wellbeing Toolbox.
Self-Reflection Tool
The most valuable tool in your Wellbeing Toolbox. You can focus self-reflection on any of the other Wellbeing Tools as you take stock of where you are right now and where you want to be moving forward. This tool can also give you permission to stay right where you are for awhile. Self-reflection is a comforting tool to develop and practice.

Storytelling Tool
The best storytelling is authentic. It is sharing your own Story. Before you can share it, you need to be able to own it and trust it. And not judge it as better or worse than anyone else’s story. I have learned a lot about authentic storytelling from the work of Brenè Brown, especially her book The Gifts of Imperfection.

Wellbeing Tool
This is a good time to remember the a journey to wellbeing is holistic. It includes all the parts of you – physical, mental & emotional, spiritual and social. Spend a little time self-reflecting which part of you needs a little time and attention. What resources do you have to hand for some self-care in that area? This might be the perfect time to think about your connection to Nature. Getting out into Nature is wonderful way to balance all four areas of your wellbeing.

Resilience Tool
To me growing and developing Resilience goes hand in hand with growing and developing Emotional Agility. I cannot speak highly enough of the work of Susan David, PhD. Besides the book, her social media is a wealth of useful information. There is also an insightful quiz to take on her website – www.susandavid.com

Microsteps Tool
There are many tools in the Wellbeing Tools in the Wellbeing Toolbox. Too much to try and tackle all at once, particularly at a time like this when self-care is really important. That is why the concept of Microsteps is so useful. Pick one small aspect of your wellbeing to focus on. Turn that aspect into a few microsteps and approach things one microstep at a time, being kind to yourself along the way.
